Hotter Than Ever

The oceans are absorbing most of the heating from human carbon emissions. The researchers discovered, however, that the temperatures are not rising uniformly across the planet. They found that the fastest warming is in the Atlantic, Indian, and Northern Pacific Oceans.

The actor, who was joined by co-star Bryce Dallas Howard, explained the stunts for the newest film "felt more taxing" than the stunts from 30 years ago when he appeared in the 1993 film "Jurassic Park."

The tweet shown on the screen at CinemaCon read, "Jurassic World Dominion, a movie about the original cast being hotter than ever" and showed current photos of castmates Laura Dern, Sam Neill and BD Wong.

The climate data gleaned from the tree ring samples fits closely with the instrumental record over the past 100 years. The team was also able to identify several known periods of warming in the tree ring record, including the Medieval Climate Anomaly that occurred between 950 and 1250, as well as several multidecadal periods of cooling that occurred prior to 1500.

Developed in Europe in the early 2000s, Blue Intensity has been shown to be a more cost effective method of assessing tree ring density than other methods, says Robert Wilson, a dendrochronologist at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, who was not involved in the new study.

As time progressed from 2021 to 2022, climate scientists remarked on what a banner year it had been for global warming. Among other records, experts noted that the Earth's oceans were hotter in 2021 than at any other time in the planet's history.

Over the course of the 365 days in the year 2022, the top 2,000 meters of Earth's oceans acquired roughly 14 zettajoules of heat, or 14,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules. For comparison, this is roughly 145 times the amount of energy generated by humans for electricity on this planet over the same period of time. Because oceans absorb more than 90 percent of the excess heat caused by global warming, that number is expected to go up even further unless greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

"These studies provide additional evidence about future-possible rises in sea level that the public needs to be aware of," Sweet wrote to Salon. "Sea level rise is already affecting us, here and now, and will continue to grow in severity during the coming decades."

The announcement, part of an annual release of global temperature data by NASA and NOAA (the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), revealed that our planet just keeps getting hotter. This data is an important part of our growing understanding of climate change.

"We've warmed more than 2degrees Fahrenheit since the late 19th century, those trends are continuing and may even be accelerating," Schmidt added. "And that's driven by our emissions of carbon dioxide and methane and other greenhouse gases."

"Nothing particularly terrible happens exactly at 1.5 degrees," Schmidt said. However, "what we're going to see is [a] continuing amount of damages and impacts increasing as the global mean temperature increases."

Within the span of six months in 2015, Apple acquired UK-based startup Musicmetric (shortly before launching Apple Music), Pandora bought Next Big Sound and Spotify acquired data science consulting firm Seed Scientific. These and several other music services continue to jockey for subscriber share today, such that high-quality, data-driven personalization and recommendation have become mere table stakes.

After sparking a U.K. birding movement over the past decade, Lindo is now bringing his message to the international stage with his new guide How to Be an Urban Birder, published in August. At 200-plus pages, the book is a satisfying and accessible read for beginner birders everywhere, and is packed full of photos, illustrations, tips, tricks, and anecdotes. Audubon recently caught up with Lindo to learn more about the art of city birding and his vision for a more cross-cultural community of birders.

According to Bloomberg Law, nearly half of lawyers report being open to new opportunities, and one in 10 lawyers is actively pursuing new job opportunities. With COVID-19 pushing higher than normal rates of burnout, lower job satisfaction, and longer workweeks in 2021, the legal market is firing up. Additionally, with a record 4 million Americans quitting their jobs in July 2021, following a peak in April (and being dubbed the Great Resignation), the Harvard Business Review recently noted that the highest resignation rates are seen in employees between ages 35 and 45.

How can you prepare for this shift? Have your legal resume and LinkedIn profile updated at all times. Keep in mind that both are key to a digital-age job search. Your legal resume will be seen by a hand-selected audience, which is a small circle of influence. In stark contrast, your LinkedIn profile makes you accessible to an audience of more than 700 million users, thereby casting a much larger net that gets you seen and noticed by recruiters, the C-suite, and even senior corporate counsels who are where you want to be in a transition from Biglaw to in-house.

For much of the 8 1/2-year equity bull market, traders have deployed a strategy called "buying the dip," which involves adding to bullish positions whenever stocks drop. Even the briefest market decline gives these traders a chance to buy more of a stock that they're into at a lower price.

It's a tactic that's been crucial in keeping the stock market rally afloat, with the ever-present undercurrent of optimism providing a backstop of sorts for major indexes. And it's been so effective that investors are now embracing brief rough patches, says Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Venus is hotter than ever, with a third new robotic explorer on the horizon. googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1449240174198-2'); ); A week after NASA announced two new missions to our closest neighbor, the European Space Agency said Thursday it will launch a Venus-orbiting spacecraft in the early 2030s. Named EnVision, the orbiter will attempt to explain why Venus is so "wildly different" from Earth, even though the two planets are similar in size and composition.

Ductless mini-splits are a popular choice in regions like ours because their installation is simple. A three-inch hole is all you need to run the refrigerant line from the outside compressor to the indoor head. One compressor can support multiple heads allowing for multi-zone comfort. This allows historical homes, for example, to enjoy the next generation of efficient heating and cooling without compromising the aesthetic value of the home. A little clever landscaping can even hide the diminutive compressor.

Among the most pressing threats climate change poses to Routt County are higher temperatures, reduced snowpack, increased risk of wildfires, more severe droughts and more extreme weather, according to a 2018 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory. These would cause residual impacts to the local economy that depends on the ecosystem for everything from tourism to farming and to public health and safety, the report adds.

Unprecedented drought conditions pose serious risks to the Yampa Valley, from natural ecosystems to the people who depend on the health of those ecosystems. Ranchers have had an especially hard time this summer as they struggle to water their crops. For the second time ever, water managers placed a call on the main stretch of the Yampa River in August, meaning certain water users had to stop or curb their usage. 041b061a72
